DATUK Tan Cheong Heng, the newly sworn-in chairman of the Penang Billiard and Snooker Association, is committed to elevating the sport to new heights during his reappointment to the 2024-2026 committee.

Expressing his dedication to enhancing the sports, Tan shared his aspirations to see the country’s largest billiards training center completed in Bayan Baru.

“We aspire to witness improved performances from our state snooker players during competitions. The completion of this center can serve as a catalyst, motivating them to train rigorously and achieve even greater excellence,” he said.

State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi said the preparations for the training centre were currently progressing well.

He hoped the centre could be completed before June 29 this year, adding that a sum of RM10,000 has been allocated to the association this year.

It is learnt that the Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim’s office would allocate another RM50,000 to the association this year, on top of a similar amount last year.

Berapit assemblyman Heng Lee Lee has lauded the centre’s significant value to inspire snooker athletes to progress further.
