A HEARTWARMING event unfolded today at St Giles The Wembley Hotel, where over 100 children from various homes were treated to a delightful lunch and entertained with captivating musical and dance performances.

Organised by the Honourary Consul Corps Malaysia for the first time, the event aimed to celebrate Hari Raya with the children, who hailed from the Children’s Protection Society, Wisma Yatim Perempuan Islam Pulau Pinang, Wisma Yatim Laki-Laki Islam Pulau Pinang, and Penang Shan Children’s Home.

Honourary Consul Corps Malaysia chairman, who is also Pakistan honorary consul in Penang, Datuk Seri Abdul Rafique Karim, thanked Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and his consort Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Nor as well as Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and his wife Tan Lean Kee for attending the programme.

The children’s faces lit up with joy as they received goodie bags and ‘duit raya’ from the organiser, radiating happiness throughout the event.

Students from an international school performed cultural dance performances, which also included the ‘Dikir Barat’.

Among the dignitaries present at the event were the consul-general of Indonesia in Penang Wanton Saragih Sidauruk and his wife Sintha Wanton and Penang Malay Association (Pemenang) president Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusoff Latiff.
