THE highly anticipated ‘Program Madani Rakyat’ (PMR) 2024 Northern Zone is set to be held at Tapak Pesta Pulau Pinang, Sungai Nibong, from May 3 to May 5.

Organised by the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) together with the Transport Ministry (MoT) and the Penang government, this event aims to foster direct engagement between the government and the community.

It offers citizens a unique opportunity to access vital services and gain firsthand insight into government initiatives.

PACU executive director Ahmad Jefry Aziz emphasised the event’s importance, pointing out its expansion from last year’s venue in Bukit Jalil.

Exceeding expectations, the previous event drew 230,000 attendees, surpassing the initial target of 200,000 visitors. With expectations set even higher this year, organisers anticipate an even greater turnout.

“Featuring an extensive array of 196 services spanning multiple ministries and agencies, PMR 2024 is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of our citizens.

“It is more than just an event; it serves as a platform to spotlight both current and forthcoming government initiatives, nurturing deeper comprehension and interaction within our society.

“With the potential for increased attendance, we anticipate even greater participation in this program than in previous years,” Ahmad Jefry said.

“It is not just an event, it is a platform to showcase the government’s ongoing and future initiatives, fostering better understanding and engagement with our society. And maybe more people will attend this programme than before,” Ahmad Jefry said in an interview after the programme ‘Nadi Seri Pagi Selamat Pagi Malaysia’ on April 24.

The event underscores a shift towards emphasising STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training).

Over 2,000 job vacancies will be showcased, reflecting the region’s growing economic landscape, with over 30% offering immediate opportunities for employment.

Highlighting the meticulous venue selection process, Penang Deputy State Secretary (Management) Abdul Kahar Abdullah explained, “After a thorough evaluation of multiple sites, the Tapak Pesta Pulau Pinang in Sungai Nibong emerged as the optimal choice, thanks to its well-established infrastructure and convenient accessibility.”
