THE ‘1 MEAL, 1 SEN!’ food promotion by airasia food, an online food delivery service, with the collaboration of the Penang Tourism and Creative Economy office, was sold out in no time since the offer began on June 10.
When airasia opened the order today at 10am for Chargrill Chicken from Farmer’s Market in Bayan Lepas, it was sold out within 30 minutes.
Customers in Penang can redeem their 1-sen meals by using the promo code 1SENPG on the selected dates and locations throughout the promotion period until June 23.
The promotion is offering a limited time for signature meals of selected restaurants in both Penang and Klang Valley.
Airasia food, which was launched in Penang about a month ago, has been receiving encouraging support.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin officially launched the special food promotion for Penangites today via an online press conference, along with airasia super app chief executive officer Amanda Woo and airasia super app head of e-Commerce Lim Ben-Jie.
“We’re pleased to support airasia food’s initiatives by subsidising an amount of the delivery cost for F&B merchants who list themselves on the airasia food platform,” Yeoh said in his speech.
“With airasia food’s entry into Penang, it creates a more robust and exciting food delivery scene and most of all, it is the Penang consumers who will benefit from by having a more healthy competition, synergy and alternatives in the industry.
“Therefore, we applaud airasia’s effort in diversifying their product offering, also leveraging on their strong brand presence and group resources to provide an alternative food delivery platform.
“We’re happy to collaborate with them to enable more opportunities for F&B merchants across the state to reach more customers and earn more, aside from giving the people of Penang more options when it comes to getting the best value for their money.”
Lim thanked the Penang Global Tourism and Penang Tourism and Creative Economy office for making the ‘1 MEAL, 1 SEN’ promotion possible.
The first redemption in Penang on June 10, he said, was on Loo Kee’s Chicken Rice and it was an instant hit.
He said within one month, airasia food has grown its merchants’ list to over 300 in Penang and their team would be working very hard to get more businesses, including from Seberang Perai, on their platform to give Penangites the best deals.
He added that in all, airasia food has 3,000 merchants from both Klang Valley and Penang and would be expanding to Kota Kinabalu this month. They are also inviting more riders to join them.
“We’re also very pleased that airasia food has been able to provide great support to our merchants especially with a very low commission rate of 15 percent.
“To top it off, customers will also enjoy unlimited free delivery within a 15km distance from the featured restaurant of the day. Redemptions are limited and will be on a first come first served basis,” Lim said.
Woo said they were very pleased that airasia food has been able to provide great support to restaurants and merchants listed with them while offering a compelling food delivery service to their customers.
Among those who took part was Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.
