THE underprivileged families at Rifle Range were beaming with joy, thanks to the Ramadan buka puasa buffet event hosted by the Penang Hindu Association (PHA).
Its president P. Murugiah said the event, which took place at a restaurant in Rifle Range recently, was specifically organised for the underprivileged families, including single mothers and OKU, from the Rifle Range PPR Flats.
He added that PHA was thankful to get the support from Muslim friends, who have also come forward previously to lend their support to PHA on other issues, to organise the event successfully.
The families who attended the event received a goodie bag each with various items including dates, cookies, sweets, face masks and also curry powder packets.
‘Duit raya’ was also distributed to the needy parents (RM100) and children (RM10) who attended the event.
“We want to create cheer in their lives amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are blessed to celebrate the various festivities and cultural diversities in peace and harmony.
“We must create more such events where people from different cultures and religions could share and support each other as unity is a priceless gift that must be preserved and cherished by all responsible and patriotic Malaysians,” he said in a statement.
