THE Penang Women Entrepreneur Mentoring Programme (PWEMP) 2.0, which is to assist women to excel in business, has received yet another overwhelming response after a successful introduction last year.
State Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Chong Eng announced that a total of 24 mentors are ready to share their knowledge and expertise with 94 mentees in this programme.
“I believe that all the mentors will provide their best guidance to the mentees.
“This is one of our state’s initiatives to assist women’s entrepreneurs to expand their business with the guidance of knowledgeable mentors.
“There are a total of 94 mentees joining this programme with 54 under the English language group and 40 under the Bahasa Malaysia group.
“This year, the programme caters to two languages. The mentees are free to choose the group according to their preferences and suitability.
“I hope all female entrepreneurs will turn their challenges into opportunities and strive to return as a mentor next year,” she said in a virtual session during the launching of the programme on Saturday (Oct 2).
Chong Eng also thanked Women BizSENSE, Penang Women Chamber of Commerce (PWCC), National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM), JCI Pearl, Yayasan Kemajuan Sosial Malaysia (YKSM) and Pertubuhan Pembangunan Wanita Tamarai Pulau Pinang for their effort in realising the programme.
“I would also like to compliment Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC) for playing a pivotal role in this programme,” she said.
