A DELEGATION from the Penang DAP visited the Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) today.
The party delegates and the new PCTH committee exchanged views related to the state’s development.
During an hour-long visit, both sides discussed various issues, ranging from water security, economics, the Penang2030 initiative, traffic, and other related matters concerning the state.
On the water disruption in several parts of Penang following the Baling floods recently, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said he would have a meeting with the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) tomorrow.
“I will bring it up at the meeting and I hope the Federal Government will look into it.
“Water is an essential need for everyone. However, no update has been provided by the Federal authorities regarding the implementation of the Sungai Perak Raw Water Transfer Scheme (SPRWTS),” said Chow, who is also state DAP chairman.
Apart from the water issues, Chow said the state’s tourism industry is recovering.
“The recovery is in happening stages and the number of visitors flocking into the state has gradually improved,” he said.
Chow thanked PCTH for the warm reception and hoped their ties would be strengthened. He also praised PCTH past chairman Datuk Seri Khor Teng How for his contributions.
PCTH chairman Tan Sri Tan Khoon Hai proposed to the state to increase high-tech talents in the industry.
“We hope the state can also have additional water supply sources to cater to the industrial needs,” he said.
Among those present were state DAP secretary Lim Hui Ying, assistant secretary Lim Siew Khim, assistant treasurer Soon Lip Chee, organising secretary H’ng Mooi Lye, assistant organising secretary Yeoh Soon Hin, political education bureau director Teh Lai Heng, committee members Phee Boon Poh, Heng Lee Lee, Chong Eng and PCTH distinguished guests.
