WITH two more weeks remaining before the scheduled water cut in several parts of Penang from Jan 10 to Jan 14, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng is advising his constituents to prepare for the water disruption.
During a one-hour meeting with Pengkalan Kota folk at a community hall today, Wong urged them to start storing water about five days before the water supply interruption on Jan 10.
“It is prudent for us to store water as much as we can a few days prior to the water interruption to mitigate the risk, rather than waiting until the eleventh hour to do so.
“Therefore, I urge all the constituents here to heed my advice as water is a precious resource for all of us. We must understand the challenges we may face without a water supply,” he emphasised.
Wong also thanked Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, also Tanjong MP, for addressing the constituents’ concerns.
“Lim has contributed water tanks, which will be distributed to each apartment for water storage. However, it can only hold about 2,000 litres of water for residents’ consumption,” he said.
Wong also assured residents that the Volunteer Fire Brigade would assist during the disruption period.
“Their fire trucks can carry about 5,000 litres of water and they will be making rounds in the affected areas,” Wong added.
