A SERVICE centre plays a crucial role in each constituency in Penang, serving as a platform for constituents to address local issues with elected representatives.

Penang state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow emphasised that having such service centres is a basic requirement for all DAP assemblymen and parliamentarians.

“I believe there is no reason for elected representatives not to establish service centres in their areas,” said Chow, who is also the Penang Chief Minister Chow, when he officiated the service centre at Farlim Square Business Centre in Jalan Pisang Embun today.

Chow said the new service centre has been operating since November last year after its relocation.

“It boasts two well-organised floors to efficiently serve the people. I commend the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary team for their hard work,” he said.

Those present at the ceremony were treated to an array of delicacies and drinks.

Among those who attended the event were DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng, Deputy Finance Minister and state DAP secretary Lim Hui Ying, Datuk Seri Utama Karpal Singh’s wife Datuk Seri Utama Gurmit Kaur (who is also Ramkarpal Singh’s mother), former Sungai Puyu assemblyman Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh, and assemblymen, including Wong Hon Wai (Paya Terubong), Joseph Ng (Air Itam), Connie Tan (Seri Delima), Lim Siew Khim (Sungai Pinang) and Phee Syn Tze (Sungai Puyu).
