Steven, however, faced financial constraints that hindered his ability to fully pursue his bodybuilding aspirations.

“I have come a long way in bodybuilding because I am passionate about this sport. To maintain peak physical condition, this sport demands substantial investment for me to excel and compete at the highest level.

“Despite reaching out to potential sponsors and individuals for support, I’ve encountered numerous challenges in securing the necessary assistance.

“With the next NPC Worldwide Muscle Contest coming up in Vietnam and the Philippines in October and November this year, I am earnestly hoping for positive news and contributions to assist with my nutrition and preparation.

“The rising cost of living has really taken a toll on me, particularly as I also care for my mother following my father’s passing from a heart attack some years ago.

“Hence, I hope good Samaritans will aid in my journey to proudly represent Penang and Malaysia on the international platform,” said Steven when interviewed by Buletin Mutiara at a gym in town recently.”

Touching on the cost of his nutrition intake, Steven pointed out that he needs about RM3,000 monthly.

“I don’t need anything beyond this amount, but rather a sponsorship that can ensure my nutritional needs are met for the next six months leading to my competition at the end of this year,” he said.

Living at Hong Seng Estate in Mount Erskine, Steven juggles his responsibilities of caring for his mother while working as a personal trainer for up to 10 clients each day. His daily routine begins in the early hours and often extends into late nights.

“I have been in this situation for years, sometimes facing difficulties when clients are scare.

“Hence, I hope the bodybuilding sports will receive attention from others,” he said.

He also encourages young people to embrace the sport for its discipline-building benefits.

Sharing his preparations for the upcoming competition later this year, Steven is now intensifying his training regimen and focusing on his nutritional intake.

“I hit the gym six days a week, with two sessions in a day. I am determined to achieve excellent results in the competition,” he said.

On his future, Steven hopes to open a new supplement shop in town.

“With my knowledge of nutrition and vitamins gained from my bodybuilding experience, I hope to open a new outlet in town,” he added.
