PARTIAL road closures are scheduled along Lebuhraya Thean Tek this month to facilitate the ongoing construction of the Bandar Baru Air Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway bypass (Package Two).
Paya Terubong assemblyman Wong Hon Wai briefed the media that the road section along the Lebuhraya Thean Teik between Desa Intan and Tanjung Court would be closed from May 3 to May 4.
“It will be closed from 9pm to 5am for the beam launching works. The road users are advised to utilise alternative routes during the closure.
“When travelling from Batu Lanchang to Paya Terubong, motorists can use Lengkok Angsana to Jalan Angsana. Similarly, when travelling from Paya Terubong to Batu Lanchang, motorists can opt for Jalan Thean Teik to Lintang Thean Teik,” he explained.
The second road closure affects the stretch at the traffic lights of Lebuhraya Thean Teik from May 6 to May 21, between 9am to 8pm.
“This is to facilitate the bored pile works that will be carried out,” he said, advising the public to be vigilant and observe road safety signs.
The third closure pertains to the road section along Lebuhraya Thean Teik between Desa Intan and Tanjung Court.
“It will be closed from May 7 to May 8, from 9pm to 5am for crosshead launching works,” he added.
When asked by the media about the current progress of Bandar Baru Air Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway bypass (Package Two), Wong mentioned it was slightly behind schedule.
“It is now 52.79%, which is about 9% behind the projected timeline,” he said, hoping the project would be completed next year.
He attributed the delay due to the project being undertaken in a populated area, and the stretch of road can only be partially closed at a specific timeframe.
