DECATHLON Malaysia officially opened its 19th outlet in the country yesterday (Oct 24), with the soft launch of its flagship store, Decathlon Penang Klippa Batu Kawan.
Spanning 20,000sq ft, the new store marks a significant step in Decathlon’s mission to make sports more accessible and to empower people to lead healthier lifestyles. After establishing its first Penang outlet at Gurney Paragon on Penang Island, Decathlon reaffirms its commitment to being part of the state’s future growth.
Decathlon Malaysia’s chief executive officer Jiao Li expressed excitement about the new store’s strategic location in Batu Kawan, close to IKEA, and its potential for the community in the south Seberang Perai district.
“We are thrilled to introduce the new store to the south Seberang Perai district, where it can connect, grow, and thrive with the community in future years.
“We hope to encourage the local community to embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle through sports, fostering a close-knit society,” Jiao Li said in her speech.
Jiao Li noted that Decathlon now operates over 1,700 outlets across 72 countries and expressed pride in the brand’s continued expansion with the new Batu Kawan store.
The opening event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a special lion dance performance, concluding with a high-tea reception for attendees.
The grand opening of Decathlon Penang Klippa Batu Kawan is scheduled for Oct 26-27, from 9am to 10pm, promising a range of exciting events for the community to enjoy.
