IT was a moment to remember for all 23 couples when they exchanged their vows during a mass wedding registration ceremony at the Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) today.
Among the couples present were 29-year-old contractor Gim Lim and his 28-year-old bride, Yvonne Yeoh, who have known each other since their primary school days.

“We have been planning to get married for the past eight years and I am glad that today we managed to make it official as husband and wife.
“What makes it even more special is that we will be expecting a baby soon,” said Gim.
Meanwhile, Kwek Cheng Leong, 35, and his wife Saw Shi Ying, 30, said they chose today to get registered because it is also the date of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

“So, it is a special day and is easy to remember.
“I am from Terengganu and my wife is from Penang. We had known each other for two years through social media before we decided to tie the knot,” said Kwek, who works as an engineer while his wife is an accountant.
Also present during the mass wedding registration ceremony were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, state National Registration Department (NRD) deputy director Awangku Iswandy Awangku Serma and PCTH chairman Tan Sri Tan Khoon Hai.
Chow wished the couples a happy married life together.

“Today is a special day as we are not only here to celebrate all 23 couples at the mass wedding ceremony, but we are also marking the annual Mid-Autumn Festival today this year.
“This means that this event will be memorable for everyone, especially the newlyweds.
“Thus, I would like to congratulate all the newlyweds today. I hope all of you will have a wonderful life ahead and I wish you happiness for the rest of your lives,” he said.
