A TOTAL of 250 workers from the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) under the 3D (dirty, dangerous, and difficult) department received essential items and monetary assistance to help ease their burden.

The initiative, organised by ONE Hope Charity and Welfare (One Hope Charity), was part of the association’s 22nd anniversary celebration.

The handover ceremony took place at Komtar today, where One Hope Charity founder and chairman Datuk Chua Sui Hau highlighted the organisation’s commitment to supporting the unsung heroes of Penang.

“Each MBPP 3D worker received essential items valued at RM100 and a cash packet of RM200.

“With this cash assistance, they can pay utility bills or purchase other necessities such as rice, sugar, and flour,” Chua explained during his speech.

He also praised the dedication of the MBPP workers.

“As we all know, MBPP staff work tirelessly to maintain the city’s cleanliness and organisation, particularly those who handle the challenging 3D tasks.

Your efforts, dedication, and contributions are invaluable to the community. Thank you for your hard work,” he said.

The ceremony was graced by MBPP mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, alongside MBPP councillors Benji Ang Ming Quan and Koay Gaik Kee.

Rajendran commended One Hope Charity for its ongoing efforts to support the welfare of MBPP staff.

“This is not the first time we have witnessed such generosity from One Hope Charity. Over the years, the association has consistently stepped forward to assist MBPP staff in various ways.

“On behalf of the city council, I deeply appreciate their contributions and hope they will continue this noble initiative in the years to come,” Rajendran remarked.
