Cooking up a storm in ‘Men’s Kitchen’

COOKING shows held in the city depicting local delicacies, especially the exalted Peranakan cuisine, will surely bring back unique memories for Penangites, says Penang Global Tourism (PGT) chief executive officer Ooi Cheok Yan.

“PGT always welcome cooking show of such nature as it will also help to attract foreign tourists, especially food lovers to our shore,” Ooi said when asked to comment on the ‘Shooting of Cooking Show’ at Kebaya Dining Room of Seven Terraces in Stewart Lane, George Town, on April 10.

A total of 13 crew members, including two celebrities, are here in Penang from April 9 to April 12 for a cooking show production called ‘Men’s Kitchen.’

The programme is produced by TVB Jade, with two famed artists – Lai Lok-yi the show’s host and his celebrity guest, Jacqueline Wong.

Both stars will try their hand at dishing out Penang’s local delicacies, especially the exalted Peranakan cuisine.

‘Men’s Kitchen’ is a 10-episode Cantonese series of 30-minute each which will be filmed at different locations in Malaysia.

Aside from showcasing scrumptious food, the programme will also feature notable attractions of the respective destinations with interesting stories to tell.

In Penang, the celebrities would get a dose of traversing George Town on a trishaw plus visiting its amazing attractions such as Tropical Spice Garden, The Top Penang, The Gravityz and Boulder Valley Glamping.

The entire filming of ‘Men’s Kitchen’ is scheduled to be completed by May this year.
