8 hours of non-stop music at Hin Bus Depot on Malaysia Day

COME this Malaysia Day on Sept 16, a night of music, which is known as the Uah Music Festival 2022, with a diverse musical acts and live bands is set to mesmerise and captivate the festival-goers at the Hin Bus Depot in George Town.

From post-rock to acoustic folk, a total of 25 musical acts will descend upon Hin Bus Depot for eight hours of non-stop music, starting from 4pm to midnight.

The Uah Music Festival 2022 is organised by the Uah Music Culture Penang and is supported by the state Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) office, Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, Shiny Universe, and Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA).

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin looked forward to the occasion next month.

“We will see a total of 25 music groups across the country, coupled with musicians from Indonesia and Taiwan. It is a full schedule of various artists from various influences, and I am sure everyone will enjoy the event.

“It is no doubt that music festival is a great contributor to the state’s tourism industry, and I am pleased to see Penang come alive again when the Uah Music Festival 2022 takes place.

“Music festivals are an effective catalyst for the tourism industry to develop. There are numerous ways to place Penang on the world map, and it surely includes the music and creative industry. I am eager to look into bringing back Penang World Music Festival once more next year to spur our local economy and revive the state’s tourism industry.

“The Uah Music Culture’s team has done their remarkable best in developing the state’s music scene,” he said at a media conference in Hin Bus Depot today.

The Uah Music Festival 2022 aims to enthral music lovers with a variety of bands from different genres in a homegrown festival that should be experienced firsthand.

There will be four stages, namely World, Rock, Acoustic and Electronic, which will be scattered around the space of the venue. The festival-goers can walk around freely to enjoy different stages at once.

A specially curated creative market will be held during the festival as the creative craftsmen and artists from different states will come together.

The Uah Music Festival 2022 organising chairman Ang Eng Bok said it was the first physical music festival that would be organised under Uah Music Culture.

“The mission of this music festival is to be a platform to showcase the artistic talents outside the usual, creative-limiting mainstream venues to an audience hungry for new and original music.

“Special thanks to all parties that support us,” he said.
