SUNGAI Pinang has seen several major developments such as Taman Areca, Karpal Singh Drive and many others over the years.
It has been one of the hot seats in Penang during the state elections.
Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim, who won the seat recently, dedicated her win to all her supporters.
“It would not have been possible to defend the Sungai Pinang seat without all of you. And now, I have a new challenge as a state executive council (exco) member.
“I will take up this challenge and do my best for Penang,” Lim said during an appreciation luncheon event at Hompton by the Beach Penang in Tanjung Tokong today.
Lim said Sungai Pinang has also greatly benefitted from the state’s Penang Maximum 80% Maintenance Fund (TPM80PP) programme.
“Among the implemented projects under the TPM80PP were the replacement of lifts, water tanks, repainting works and other maintenance works,” she said.
Lim is now overseeing the state Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs portfolio.
Jelutong MP R.S.N. Rayer praised Lim for her commitments.
“She is someone who works hard not only during the elections but year in, year out, she gives her full commitment to her constituents.
“We have three state constituencies under the Jelutong parliamentary constituency, namely Sungai Pinang, Datok Keramat and Batu Lancang.
“In Jelutong, we have the hardworking Batu Lancang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong, and two Penang exco members – Lim and Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo, who is also Penang Deputy Chief Minister II.
“We continue to work hard as a team to give the best to our people and the state,” Rayer said.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow congratulated Lim for her success in defending the Sungai Pinang seat.
“She has the backing of the Sungai Pinang community because of her personality and easily likeable attitude. Sungai Pinang has been one of the hot seats in Penang for many years.
“A bigger responsibility now rests on her shoulders after being appointed as a state exco member,” he said.
Also present were Jagdeep, Rayer, volunteers from the Sungai Pinang service centre and several representatives from the state government.
