STATE executive councillor Chong Eng, together with Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim, brought cheer to the residents of the Penang Buddhist Association (PBA) Senior Citizens Home recently.

Chong Eng and Lim were seen joining the elderly for lunch as well as entertaining them with their impromptu fun-filled singing sessions.

According to the PBA Senior Citizens Home president Chan Seong Lok, the home caters to a total of 37 residents (male and female).

“The PBA Senior Citizens Home was started in 2002 and moved over to the current premises (No.17, Jalan Perak) in 2007.

“We are indeed happy and fortunate to receive tremendous support in terms of donations and services from the public at large to enable us to run this home efficiently.

“Various projects such as health programmes, interaction and religious events are held annually for the interest of our home residents,” Chan said during his speech at the luncheon held on April 20.

He also thanked Chong Eng and Lim for their presence at the event.

Also present was Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor Tan Soo Siang.

Meanwhile, Chong Eng applauded PBA Senior Citizens Home for providing free services to elderly folks.

“We hope many other kind souls will also set up a facility such as this to help care for the senior citizens,” she added.
