FINANCE Minister Lim Guan Eng hopes that 2019 will be a prosperous and successful year for Malaysia.
“Now (post 2018) we have succeeded in strengthening the country’s financial position, as well as boost the confidence of foreign investors and financial funding companies; that we are committed in rectifying the problems left by the previous government.
“I urge the local investors to keep investing in the local market in order to contribute towards a healthy growth.
“As for today I would like to thank the Penang Chinese Chambers of Commerce (PCCC) for jointly organising this open house together with my office here. I believe that about 10,000 guests are here today,” Lim told a press conference during the open house.
Upbeat Chinese festive drums performance, soulful traditional orchestra, captivating Erhu music, and colourful dance performances set the perfect mood for a vibrant Chinese New Year celebration at the SPICE Convention Centre today.
Guests at the open house were treated to a scrumptious meal while being entertained by the power-packed ‘musical feast’.
Lim together with Penang Governor Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce president Datuk Seri Hong Yeam Wah and several other dignitaries took part in the ‘yee sang’ tossing ceremony which symbolises ‘prosperity’.
