A night of merriment and music, press members let their hair down

MEDIA practitioners in Penang were treated to an exciting night of music at The Skye Event Space at Menara M Summit here.

 

Some 140 guests, from media companies such as The Star, Bernama, Guang Ming Daily, RTM, Kwong Wah Yit Poh, Nanyang Siang Pau, Sin Chew Daily, Oriental Daily and Astro Awani, attended the Media Appreciation Dinner by state executive council member Zairil Khir Johari and Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee.

 

The appreciation dinner started as early as 6.30pm, with a tour of the M Summit 191 Executive Hotel Suites, which is in Menara M Summit in Magazine Road.

Press members were then ushered to The Skye Event Space and were amazed with the stunning floral decoration.

 

Those registered for the karaoke competition showed no signs of anxiety.

Lee thanked the media personnel for their sacrifices and hoped to work together with them for a better Penang.

 

“Media plays an important role in delivering accurate news to the people. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication,” he said in his speech on Feb 26.

Zairil invited the pressmen to relax and enjoy themselves.

 

“I have good news and bad news.

 

“The good news is I am not going to deliver a ‘ceramah’. The bad news is, later, Chris and I are going to sing,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.

 

Lee and Zairil kick-started the singing competition with a famous Hokkien song ‘Ai Pia Jia Eh Yia’. They received a standing ovation for their showmanship.

Besides having an exciting night of music, the guests were also treated to a sumptuous buffet dinner. The lucky draw winners also took home attractive prizes such as power banks and smart watches.
