DENTAL professionals, academicians, researchers, and dental industry players from Asia and beyond will be sharing their experiences and exchanging ideas during the 10th Asian Conference of Oral Health Promotion for School Children (ACOHPSC), to be held here in Penang.
Malaysia will be the host for the conference for the very first time.
The two-day conference, themed ‘Future Smile Begins Today’,  will be held at St Giles The Wembley Hotel on Sept 20 and 21.
The Malaysian Association of Dental Public Health Specialist Brig Jen Dr Zulkifli Zainal Abidin said about 250 local and foreign participants were expected to take part in the conference.
“The last conference in 2017 took place in Cambodia,” Dr Zulkifli, who is also the organising chairman of the conference, said.
Dr Zulkifli and the state Health (Dental) deputy director Dr Ong Ai Leng paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office today.
Chow thanked the organising committee for choosing Penang to hold their conference.
“Many Federal agencies have come here to hold their meetings. Penang is a preferred destination for meetings and conventions,” Chow said.
According to the ACOHPSC 2019 website, the first conference was held in Japan in 2001 and it has been held every two years in different countries around Asia ever since.
