THE state Health Department has advised the public to take precautionary measures to fight against the spread of dengue fever.
According to the statistics shared by the state Health Department via its official Facebook page, there have been 42 recorded cases of dengue fever as of the 11th week ending on March 12, with a cumulative total of 135 cases.
Of the 42 cases, 29 were reported in the central Seberang Perai district, followed by six cases in the northeast district on the island, five cases in the south Seberang Perai district, and one case in the southwest district on the island.
The state Health Department has identified four hotspots in the central Seberang Perai district, namely Kampung Sungai Lembu, Taman Aman Jaya, Persiaran Kota Permai, and Sutera, Pangsapuri Sutera.
Apart from that, four localities, such as Taman Eng Seng, Kampung Kuala Juru, Taman Nirwana (A), and Tingkat Siakap have been categorised as areas experiencing uncontrolled epidemics in the central Seberang Perai district.
Meanwhile, the Desa Mawar neighbourhood has been identified to be the hotspot for dengue cases in the northeast district.
In the south Seberang Perai district, the Kampung Badak locality has been classified as an area with an ‘uncontrolled epidemic’.
The Bukit Gedong Flats is the only hotspot in the southwest district.
According to the information from the state Health Department’s Facebook page, one teaspoon of water is sufficient for mosquito breeding.
