SOME 80 senior citizens from Little Sisters of the Poor in Lorong Batu Lancang were feted to a luncheon at a function held on Oct 17.
The event, held in conjunction with the launching of the adoption programme of the residents, was organised by the Eurasian Association of Penang.
Present were exco for Town & Country Planning and Housing Jagdeep Singh Deo and chairman of the Eurasian Association of Penang, Aloysius Gasper.
Joining them were MP for Bukit Gelugor, Ramkarpal Singh, Seri Delima assemblymember RSN Rayer and Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councilor, Chris Lee.
Jagdeep said the adoption programme for the senior citizens is a good move to encourage bonding between the public and old folks.
“I hope this programme, where residents who were ‘adopted’ can be continuously in contact and their welfare looked after by their ‘adoptive parents’, can be extended to other homes by charity organisations in the state,” said Jagdeep, who is also Datuk Keramat assemblymember.
