KEEN interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics is important to foster young students’ creativity, says Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy.
He pointed out it was important for the students to face challenges and develop their problem-solving skills from a very young age.
“AI robotics is a gradual learning process and encourages interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
“Tech Dome is a suitable place to encourage youngsters and students to cultivate interests in inventing technology,” he said in his speech at Tech Dome Penang today.
Tech Dome Penang organised the first AI Robotics competition today. It is the only AI Robotics Competition for Malaysia Techlympics as well as the first AI Robotics competition for primary pupils.
A total of 683 pupils from 29 schools have registered for the competition.
Ramasamy emphasised the importance of STEM and hoped more younger students can come forward and pick up the skills.
Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Khoo Boo Wooi thanked Ramasamy for the state’s effort to promote STEM.
“We shall have more talents in the technology field soon,” he said.
The competition was endorsed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), state Education Department and the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI).
