FOOD supplies and basic necessities from Penang will be sent to flood-hit Johor this evening.

Lay Hock Peng, who is Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow’s special coordinating officer, said it was important to ensure an adequate supply of food and basic necessities for the flood victims.

“All these items will be sent later today to ease the burden on the victims.

“The contributions, worth about RM35,500, were made by DAP Kepala Batas, DAP Veterans Club, Yiilive Venture and my office.

“The basic necessities include oats, noodles, rice cookers, toiletries and water pump jacks,” he told reporters at a press conference in Kepala Batas today.

Lay said all the items would be handed over to their counterparts in Johor before being distributed.

“We try our best to render our assistance in these difficult times,” he added.
