CHIEF Minister Chow Kon Yeow has approved an allocation of RM150,000 to upgrade SK Taman Merak’s resources centre and to facilitate other related projects to create a conducive learning environment for its pupils.
Chow, who is also Batu Kawan MP, responded positively to a request by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to upgrade the centre.
“After visiting the resources centre this morning, I have decided to approve allocation.
“I hope this allocation will be utilised by the school authorities to benefit the pupils. They can now look forward to have a better learning surrounding once the centre is improved.
“We will continue to assist the development of education in the state,” he said in his speech during the Excellence Award Ceremony for Year Six and Pre-School pupils at SK Taman Merak.
Chow said the state wound continue with its initiative to ensure education is accessible for everyone, including the B40 group.
“A free tuition programme for 1,500 pupils have been initiated yearly,” he said.
Chow said a total of RM60 million would also be channelled for the schools’ aid by 2030.
Earlier, the school’s headmistress Roslinda Mohd Khalib expressed his deepest appreciation to Chow for visiting the school.
She thanked Chow for the allocation given, specifically for the school’s development.
