FOLLOWING the emergence of two clusters in the neighbourhood of Air Itam, a one-day vaccination programme catering to its residents is currently taking place at Sunshine Farlim, Penang.
According to Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng, he had approached the officials from Health Ministry (MOH) to come up with the programme in order to curb the fast-spreading coronavirus among the community.
“Apart from the free mass screening programme, I felt that the vaccination process must take place simultaneously and urgently. Thus, I had a discussion with the MOH to come up with this programme.
“My team from Air Itam service centre helped to set up the facilities for the vaccination programme here at the Sunshine Farlim compound.
“This programme is specially for Sunshine Farlim employees, individuals above 50 years old as well as people with comorbidities.
“They were identified by the MOH,’’ said Ng when he visited the vaccination booth this afternoon.
Ng said personnel from the Civil Defence Force, district office as well as police have joined hands to assist his team with the programme.
“The health workers from the state Health Department are helping to inoculate 420 doses of vaccine.
“For the second dose, they can receive it at the Caring Society Complex,’’ added Ng.
