“Our previous events were a resounding success, with nearly all items being taken within just 40 minutes of opening.

“This reflects the overwhelming support and need from the community,” said Ng during a press conference at Pusat Penang2030 Air Itam today.

Ng added that the primary aim of the free market is to provide relief to underprivileged families and individuals by easing their burden for daily necessities.

“We are grateful to the Air Itam constituents who generously donated their pre-loved belongings, many of which are still in excellent condition.

“Our team also carefully inspects each item to ensure they are damage-free and ready for use,” he shared.

The press conference was also attended by Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillors Tan Soo Siang and Visvenathan Tangavello.

In a separate announcement, Ng revealed that his office has installed 150 festive lanterns around Desa Mawar Neighbourhood Park to brighten the atmosphere for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

He emphasised that similar initiatives will be extended to other festive seasons to promote community spirit.
