RESIDENTS of Air Itam were all smiles as they received Sunshine shopping vouchers from Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
The initiative, sponsored by Top Group Life Planning and Sense Perfect International College (SPIC) Penang, was aimed at easing the financial burden on families amid rising cost of living.
The vouchers allow residents to purchase essential goods, spreading festive cheer across households in the constituency.
In his speech today, Ng highlighted the importance of fostering inclusivity and strengthening community bonds during festive occasions.

“This programme reflects our commitment to supporting the people of Air Itam and ensuring that everyone can celebrate this joyous occasion together,” he said.
Present at the event were northeast district and land office penghulu Nasrizal Nasib and members of the Kampung Melayu Village Community Management Council (MPKK).

Nasrizal commended the initiative, calling it a meaningful effort to aid families while nurturing unity.
“This noble act not only eases the financial burden of families during the festive season but also strengthens the spirit of care and togetherness among us.
“I hope such initiatives will continue annually,” he said.
Ng further noted that Air Itam has seen several community-focused programmes, including the distribution of school aid vouchers, free markets, and events recognising the contributions of local residents.

He encouraged more people to engage in these activities, underscoring their benefits for the community.
As part of the constituency’s efforts to promote sustainability, Ng also announced the setting up of a religious offering recycling station at the Air Itam Penang2030 centre at the Desa Mawar neighbourhood, aimed at fostering environmental awareness among residents during the festive season.
