ALL 19 Penang DAP candidates for the state election have successfully been nominated, state DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said.
Chow said there were four state seats with three-cornered battles and three seats which would see four-cornered fights.
“The rest are straight fights. We are grateful that all our candidates can start campaigning,” he told a media conference at Wisma DAP in Rangoon Road today.
Chow said the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalitions would jointly launch the Penang Unity Manifesto 2023 and introduce the Penang ‘Unity’ election candidates at 9pm on Aug 1 at the Butterworth Arena.
“We will introduce all 40 ‘Unity’ candidates from our Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalitions. We will also launch our Penang Unity Manifesto 2023.
“Besides that, we will also showcase the progress of our last manifesto. We will show the rakyat how much we have achieved and we will continue achieving them if they have not been fulfilled,” he said.
Chow also revealed that various activities have been lined up throughout the election campaign period.
“There will be a series of ceramah, walkabouts and others.
“A ceramah will be held tonight (July 29) at the Penang Chinese Town Hall to introduce the election candidates from DAP,” he said.
Chow also mentioned the Jelajah Madani which was scheduled to be held in Penang on Aug 5.
Penang DAP secretary Lim Hui Ying introduced ‘Jaguh’, the DAP mascot for the state election.
“We have various types of ‘Jaguh’ merchandise such as umbrellas, T-shirts, soft toys and limited edition figurines. Our supporters can check them out!” Hui Ying said.
Also present at the media conference were DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng who is also contesting the Air Putih seat, DAP assistant political education director Wong Shu Qi, state DAP treasurer Wong Hon Wai who is also contesting the Paya Terubong seat, and Penang DAP committee member Phee Boon Poh.
