SOME 4,000 runners are set to experience the scenic heritage enclave of George Town in Penang during the Alliance Bank Heritage Run 2024 this Sunday.

Organised by Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, the second edition of the highly-anticipated Heritage Run 2024 will feature three categories: a 12km competitive run, a 7km run, and a 3km walk.

Speaking to Buletin Mutiara following a courtesy visit today, Pearly Ong, Alliance Bank’s Group Communications, Editor and Intranet head, said she looks forward to the run this Sunday.

“The 12km run will start at Esplanade at 5.30am, followed by the 7km run at 7am, and the 3km walk at 7.30am. Participants can enjoy a vibrant historical backdrop as they run through George Town, celebrating the city’s rich cultural legacy,” Ong said.

“Avid runners can opt for a more challenging experience with the 12km route, while the redesigned 7km route offers a unique opportunity to fully immerse in the heritage site.”

In addition to the race, participants can enjoy post-event activities such as trishaw rides, # SupportLokal  bazaar, and the painting of a large communal canvas at the venue.

Ong also highlighted the significance of the event’s meaningful cause, now in its second year, which is aligned with the bank’s sustainability theme.

“This year’s run continues with eco-friendly practices, offering essentials made from sustainable materials as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. We are fully committed to this effort,” she added.

Earlier, Ong, accompanied by the bank’s Group Communications, Editorial and Intranet assistant vice-president Najihah Sani, shared a light moment with state Information Division Communications director and Chief Minister’s press secretary Yap Lee Ying during their visit.
