ALL the government agencies and its premises in Penang should provide parking spaces for pregnant women.
According to Heng Lee Lee (PH-Berapit), the local authorities on the island and mainland should have special parking spaces for pregnant women, especially in commercial areas, hospitals, and health clinics.
Heng, who is eight months pregnant, said the availability of the car parks would be helpful and convenient for pregnant women when they go for their checkups.
“I would like to propose to the local authorities to issue a pregnant mother’s card with documentary evidence from a doctor.
“This initiative is aimed at bringing comfort to all pregnant women regardless of the duration of their pregnancy.
“We need to take care of pregnant women as well,” she said during the State Legislative Assembly at Dewan Sri Pinang today.
At the same time, Heng also pointed out the need to improve lactation rooms in government offices.
