COME January 2017, Penang residents and tourists will be able to enjoy glamorous camping, or glamping, activities at the Boulder Valley Glamping Resort in Teluk Bahang.
The glamping activities at the resort will offer an exceptional lodging and participatory experience, unique and amazing natural environment
setting, good accessibility and various tree top experiences. The resort’s executive director, Lee Woon Poh, took reporters for a visit on Jan 23.
Also present were exco for Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation, Chow Kon Yeow and the resort’s executive
chairman, Heah Gek Huah.
Lee added that glamping is an up and coming trend for travellers who want to experience the great outdoors, nature and a little adventure in
their holiday without sacrificing modern comforts and safety.
“The advantage of the site is its location at the centre of the Balik Pulau–Teluk Bahang round island cycling path. It has very good accessibility
from the main road, Jalan Teluk Bahang.
“The visitors’ experience starts once they enter the site, one kilometer of proper driveway down the glamping site,” she said.
Lee commented that their design objective was to create an authentic eco-resort that maintains the environmental characteristics of the site,
including its biological and geological characteristics.Lee said site safety and security is a priority besides the preservation of natural heritage.
She said the capital involvement is RM20 million, which is mostly spending on environment preservation and necessary enhancement,
to provide a safe and comfortable environment for visitors.
The resort is expected to be fully completed by early next year.
Meanwhile, Chow congratulated the Amazing Discovery team led by Heah by proving that their glamping project could be done as they have
gone through very tedious legal processes to comply with guidelines, without sacrificing the company’s concept.
“It was a real challenge as the company took a long time to obtain all necessary approvals before commencement of works.”
