EUROPEAN Union Ambassador
& Head of EU Delegation
to Malaysia, H.E. Luc Vandebon,
and Italian ambassador
H.E. Mario Sammartino on Nov
12 called on Chief Minister Lim
Guan Eng at his office in Komtar.
The Italian ambassador expressed
his intention to arrange
industrial design expertise exchange
programmes with Penang.
Lim in welcoming the guests
highlighted the recently
launched German Dual Training
Programme organised in collaboration
with the state government.
Earlier, Ireland Ambassador
to Malaysia, H.E. Eamon Hickey,
also paid Lim a courtesy
visit at his office in Komtar.
Hickey expressed his wish to
expand the trade and educational
networks with Penang by
next year.
The Chief Minister said being
an international city, Penang
always believes in “freedom”
for its residents.
Meanwhile, Finland ambassador
H.E.Matti Pullinen was
also the guest of the Chief Minister
on Nov 12.
Joining him was MS Elevator
Sdn Bhd executive chairman
and chief executive officer Datuk
Poh Kim Seng.
The ambassador shared his
views on expanding tourism and
manufacturing operations in
Malaysia and Penang.
Lim said the recent budget
announcement does not favour
Penang in particular, but the
state is still doing well economically.
He added that it will be challenging
for the state particularly
after 2020.
