THE 35 religious organisations which were offered by the state government to set up their houses of worship on the RIBI (places of worship other than Islam) land in Ampang Jajar can now submit their respective building plans to the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP).

Caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow shared this when attending the briefing session on RIBI building plan preparation at PICCA Convention Centre@Butterworth Arena today.

“The Ampang Jajar RIBI project is an initiative by the state government, specifically in the Seberang Perai area, to ensure sufficient land is provided for the development of RIBI as well as other developments to drive Penang’s economy.

“This project can also be considered as one of the social initiatives, as the state government had offered the RIBI land in an area that is rapidly developing.

“As the planning permission for the project has been exempted, the respective religious organisations just need to submit their building plans to the MBSP,” Chow said.

It is learned that a total of 9.24 acres of land has been distributed to a total of 35 religious organisations.

The state government has spent nearly RM9.2 million to provide basic infrastructure at the Ampang Jajar RIBI land which was completed in September last year by Penang Development Corporation (PDC).

On Feb 15, 2022, the land lease offer letters were given to all the respective organisations.

The land is leased for 60 years from September 2022 to August 2082 and the state would provide a 50% discount on the lease rate for the land.

Meanwhile, caretaker state Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said under the RIBI fund, a total of RM10.6 million has been approved for 247 applications to date.
