PENANG has always been supportive of the underprivileged communities by providing assistance to them during difficulty.
This is evident when a new community centre, known as Angel Community Enterprise, was established in Hutton Lane
The centre was formed by four enthusiastic young entrepreneurs to lend a helping hand to single parents, women, young entrepreneurs, disabled people and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The four of them are Jazz Tan, Chan Kar Yee, Kinki Tan and Desline Teoh.
Chan said they wanted to support the underprivileged community, especially during the post-pandemic.
“We provide the underprivileged community a place to sell food and other homemade products to the public.
“We hope to assist them in whatever way we can.
“Our centre is also located at a 120-year-old well preserved heritage building that could serve as a tourist attraction spot as well.
“Kudos to the state government for supporting our initiative,” she said in her speech during the opening ceremony of the centre.
State Environment and Welfare Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, who was the guest of honour, was pleased with the initiative.
“We need such effort from the young people to assist us to make Penang a better place.
“This can help to preserve the traditional food as well,” he said, while contributing RM2,000 to the centre.
“We need everyone to join in the effort to help the community.”
