PENANG mainlanders can take amazing photos of the jaw-dropping animal topiaries at Dataran Pemuda Merdeka in Butterworth, beginning April 9 to 21.
Following the overwhelming response from the public, the state government has decided to showcase the ‘Animal Kingdom in the City’ exhibition in Butterworth after the display at the Esplanade ends.
Penang Tourism Development, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the exhibition at the Esplanade has been extended to April 7 to give the public more time to enjoy the display.
“Initially, the display at the Esplanade is scheduled to end on March 31.
“After the exhibition at the Esplanade ends on April 7, we will move it to Dataran Pemuda Merdeka in Butterworth for it to be showcased from April 9 to 21,” he told a press conference in Komtar today.
The ‘Animal Kingdom in the City’ display is one of the 15 programmes held in conjunction with the Penang Arts Week celebration.
Yeoh said that the exhibition at the Esplanade, which started on March 24, has garnered much attention.
He added that the exhibition in Butterworth would also be free.
“The exhibition will be able to spur the interest of aspiring artists on the island and mainland,” he said.
A launching ceremony of the exhibition will be held at 8.30pm at Dataran Pemuda Merdeka in Butterworth on April 9.
