Another good response to Jawi Free Market Programme

THE Jawi Free Market Programme, which returned after a lapse of three years, was well participated in and conducted successfully.

According to Jawi assemblyman H’ng Mooi Lye, the response from the public was very encouraging just like the first free market that his service centre had organised in 2019 at the C-Mart in Nibong Tebal.

He said the attendees were free to choose new or second-hand items, such as clothes, electrical appliances, books, beds, furniture tools and many more. This time the programme was held at a more spacious ground at Taman Bukit Panchor basketball court in Nibong Tebal recently.

“Our aim of organising this free market is to help the needy to lighten their burden as the cost of living is increasing from day to day.

“The programme was also an opportunity for those who have clothes or old equipment that can still be used and did not know who to give to.

“Our Jawi service centre received a lot of support from various NGOs, factories, and individuals who were ready to help us make this programme a success.

“Even until the eleventh hour, we were still receiving requests to send their used items that could still be used again for this free market programme.

“Some were new items and others used ones. We made sure all the items could still be used before separating them for the attendees to choose and take away for free,” H’ng said.

He thanked all the donors, in particular Seberang Perai Professional Entrepreneur Club (SPPEC) president Tan Chiew Hoon for his strong support.

Also present at the free market programme, which was held from 8.30am to noon, were Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who is also the Nibong Tebal MP, Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillors Heng Yeh Shiuan and Ngoh Cheng Hai, and representatives of various NGOs, Jawi MPKK (Village Community Management Council), Nibong Tebal JPWK (Women and Family Development Committee) and Jawi JPWK.
