ACHIEVING the Penang2030 vision requires a steadfast commitment to excellence in performance.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, in his speech at the Penang Excellence Service Award (APC) 2023 ceremony held at the Penang Marriott Hotel today, emphasised the theme, ‘Outstanding Civil Servants, Leading the Penang2030 Vision,’ as an enduring aspiration.
He expressed his hope that this theme would motivate all civil servants to perform their duties earnestly and with dedication.
“Performance excellence must be ingrained in our culture to ensure that our efforts and actions are carried out earnestly.
“I hope that this recognition and appreciation will not only inspire the 317 outstanding individuals gathered here today but also motivate all civil servants to continually provide the best service to the people.
“The APC is a recognition and appreciation by the Penang government for those who have consistently performed their duties efficiently, productively, and with full dedication, serving both the government and the people without hesitation.
“The state government is deeply grateful and appreciates the commitment of all of you who have diligently carried out your responsibilities toward achieving our desired goals.
“This is the trust placed upon us, and it is also my hope for all public servants of the state government. In line with the changes and current needs, the quality-of-service delivery to the people must always be improved,” he said.
Chow stressed that public servants play a crucial role in ensuring the direction and excellence of their respective agencies in successfully implementing the policies and agenda of the state government.
“Therefore, it is hoped that you will continue to carry out your entrusted responsibilities with utmost integrity.
“Civil servants indeed act as intermediaries between the people and the government, reflecting the Penang government’s image in the eyes of the community.
“Therefore, you must always prioritise quality and effectiveness in your actions while delivering services,” he said before congratulating all APC recipients.
Meanwhile, Penang State Secretary Datuk Rosli Isa said civil servants have responsibilities not only to their respective departments but also to society.
“Each officer must continuously maintain and enhance their leadership skills.
“Everyone is called to embrace the six core values of Malaysia MADANI: Sustainability (keMampanan), Prosperity (Kesejahteraan), Innovation (Daya Cipta), Respect (HormAt), Trust (Keyakinan), and Compassion (Ihsan),” he said in his speech.
Rosli added that the Penang Excellence Service Award (APC) 2023 initiative involves recipients from three state statutory bodies and 21 state departments.
Also present were Penang Legal Advisor Datuk Roslinda Mohd Shafie, Penang Financial Officer Datuk Zabidah Safar, Penang Deputy Secretary (Management) Abdul Kahar Abdullah, Penang Mufti Sahibus Samahah Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Sukki Othman, and PLANMalaysia@Pulau Pinang director Datuk Rozita Hamit.
