THE vibe of Asia Pacific Masters Game 2018 (APMG 2018) was felt enormously in the neighbourhood of Batu Lancang today during the APMG 2018 torch handing over ceremony in front of the Batu Lancang food court.
At the event, Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh passed the APMG 2018 torch to his fellow comrade Ong Ah Teong, the Batu Lancang state assemblyman, as part of the torch run gimmicks.
It was an eventful morning where some 200 school children from several schools in the constituency of Batu Lancang attended the handing over of APMG 2018 torch.
Among the schools which participated in the event are Sekolah Kebangsaan Jelutong Barat, Sekolah Kebangsaan Convent Green Lane, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Jelutong and Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Hamilton.
Some 550 saplings also were planted during the eventful ceremony.
The torch later on was passed to Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid.
The torch run will continue until the opening ceremony of APMG 2018 on Sept 8.
Earlier on, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi (carrying the torch from Jetty) handed over the torch to Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim at Karpal Singh Drive.
It was then passed to Jelutong MP R.S.N Rayer who represented Datok Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh at SRJK (C) Moh Ghee Pusat.
The mascot of APMG ‘CUN’ made its appearance during the ceremony where the students were overwhelmed with excitement and started to cheer upon its arrival. ‘CUN’ stands for Capable, United and Noble.
To add on the excitement, the students each received the APMG merchandise – mascot (toy) and certificates – as a souvenir for remembrance of the prestigious event which is going to be held for the very first time in Penang.
