PARENTS’ sacrifices, selfless love and care for their children must never be forgotten, but be cherished.
Tan Lean Kee, who is the wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, said the culture of appreciation and filial devotion to the elderly was precious when she attended the Parent’s Day celebration organised by The Learning Kingdom Education at Caring Society Complex in Jalan Utama yesterday.
“In today’s fast-paced and busy society, we must continue to uphold the values of the family and community.
“Today’s meaningful and heart-warming programme provides children with opportunities to fulfil their filial duties and to show gratitude and honour to their parents,” she said during the celebration.
Tan, who is also the Pertubuhan Wanita Mutiara president, said the bonding and love between parents and children must be maintained.
“We must always inculcate the spirit of true love to parents and value their effort in upbringing the children,” she said.
Penang Rose Charities Association president Datuk Lawrence Cheah emphasised the utmost importance of parents’ role.
“Parent’s Day is a day to dedicate and celebrate the role of parents in society. It has a significant impact on our development.
“They are the unsung heroes in our daily lives,” he said.
The event provided parents and their children with an opportunity to enjoy quality time together and engage in various bonding activities.
