Appreciating mum’s sacrifices

ZUMBA dance, line dance, towel art competition, singing competition and various interactive activities for women and their children were featured at the Mother’s Day programme at New World Park in George Town this morning.

 

The programme known as, ‘Terima kasih Ibu, Kau Inspirasiku’ (Thank you, Mother, You Inspire Me), was held in conjunction with Mother’s Day tomorrow (May 12).

 

It was organised by the Padang Kota Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK Padang Kota) and officiated by Tan Lean Kee, the wife of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

JPWK Padang Kota chairperson Datin Anna Yeoh Phaik Suan said the objective of the programme was to raise awareness in the local community about the sacrifices mothers make in raising their children.

Meanwhile, Tan commended JPWK Padang Kota for successfully organising this meaningful programme.

“Everyone should appreciate their mothers because they are willing to sacrifice anything for their children.

 

“They ensured you had the best, even during their toughest times. They put everything aside and took care of you when you were sick.

 

“So, I hope the people will remember this and show respect to their mothers, not forgetting them when they achieve success in life. Cherish every moment with them while they are still with you.

 

“And from today, we shouldn’t wait for a whole year before expressing our gratitude to the first woman in our lives for always being there for us. Thus, every day should be Mother’s Day,” she concluded.

 

Also present during the programme was Batu Kawan Parliamentary Service Centre director Ewe Chee Way.
