AS a gesture of appreciation for the invaluable contribution of media practitioners in the state, the Penang Democratic Action Party (DAP) hosted a Media Appreciation Night at Jen Hotel in George Town this evening.
Themed ‘Retro’, some 50 media practitioners from various organisations were treated to a scrumptious buffet spread and live music.
Several pressmen also bagged lucky draw prizes, including domestic and international flight tickets, as well as electrical appliances during the event.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the state DAP chairman, expressed his gratitude for the media’s contribution to the state.
“I would like to thank all media practitioners in Penang for working closely with the state government and our elected representatives in disseminating various news related to the state’s initiatives and policies.
“The state government, under the current leadership, will continue to support all media practitioners to carry out their work.
“After all, the media serves as a vital bridge to disseminate all the information. Your ability to inform, educate and inspire is unparalleled and we recognise your immense impact.
“Thank you for your continuous support shown to the state government,” said Chow during his speech this evening.
Among those present during the Penang DAP media night were Penang DAP secretary Lim Hui Ying and Penang DAP organising secretary Jason H’ng Mooi Lye. Lim is also the Deputy Finance Minister and Tanjong MP, while H’ng is the state Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman, and Jawi assemblyman.
