Chow praised Kampung Kolam MPKK for organising the event for the third consecutive year.

He highlighted the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival for the Chinese community in Malaysia and worldwide, second only to the Chinese New Year.

“The Mid-Autumn Festival, which is also known as the Mooncake or Lantern Festival (Tanglung Festival), is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.

“It is usually marked by family reunions, a full moon viewing and the sharing of mooncakes. It is also regarded as an auspicious day for wedding ceremonies.

“In essence, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional celebration that places great importance on culture, family bonds and community spirit,” Chow said in his speech.

He also encouraged the public to visit Armenian Park with their families and friends, to take photos and enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival together.

Also present were Chinese vice consul-general in Penang Madam Ding Qiao, Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Wong Yuee Harng, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran and Kampung Kolam MPKK chairman Quah Peng Eow.
