THE official launching ceremony of the Penang Arts and Craft Exhibition 2016 was held on April 20 at Komtar with the Komtar assemblymember Teh Lai Heng as the guest of honour.
The exhibition was held from April 20 till 22 at level 3 of Komtar.
The main objective of this exhibition was to promote the unique craft products from all over Malaysia and to showcase their design concepts.
Visitors to the event did not only have the opportunity to appreciate the beautifully designed craft products but also got to see live demonstrations of the handmade process.
The event provided business opportunities for the sponsors, distributors and exhibitors as well.
“Arts and craft, as we are aware, are increasingly important in our lives. We are now attached more and more with the importance to beauty, quality, uniqueness, creativity and personal taste. Hence there is now a growing appreciation for arts and crafts,” said Teh.
Also present at the event were Datuk Ang Choo Hong, chief executive officer of PDC Setia Urus, and Leong Mee Meng, general manager of ICT Mall, Komtar.
The event was organised by PDC Setia Urus with support from Themez Group Media.
Teh praised the organisers for bringing such an event to Komtar and said that it will help Komtar to attract more visitors as the popular mall is now being revitalised with more events and activities to promote its image.
“During a briefing by Datuk Ang on Jan 29, it was announced that about RM40 million would be spent to maintain the mechanical, electrical, civil and structural parts of Komtar. Such a huge expenditure on infrastructure must, in my opinion be complimented with a substantial expenditure on promotions, advertising and events so that the full potential of Komtar can be realised,” added Teh.
