“The event, scheduled from Aug 13 to Aug 30, celebrates artistic excellence as well as the promise of contributing to the enrichment of Penang.

“The art pieces that are showcased here reflect Chuah’s five decades of dedication to the world of art.

“All his pieces provide a glimpse into his personal experiences, reflections, and evolution as an artist,” he said in his speech during the exhibition at the Penang State Art Gallery at Dewan Sri Pinang in George Town today.

Chow said the Equator Academy of Art & Design, founded by Chuah in 1987, has grown into a recognised private institution.

“Chuah’s commitment to art education stands as a testament to his dedication to nurturing emerging artists and propelling the local art scene in Penang,” he said.

Chow thanked Chuah for his contributions to Penang’s creative landscape, as well as his instrumental role in art education.

He added that the positive impact of such an event will contribute to Penang’s cultural, artistic, and economic advancement.

Chuah said he was grateful to the state for showcasing his artwork.

“The quality of an artist’s work is judged by the audience. Therefore, artists must constantly strive for excellence,” he said.

The art exhibition marks a significant milestone for Chuah as an artist. It is Chuah’s long-standing commitment and belief in providing quality education to aspiring artists.
