THE Association of Penang Indian NGOs, commonly known as Gappin Penang, is planning to hold a seminar to raise awareness on the dangers of drug abuse.
Its president Dr MC Pitchay said more youths are involved in drugs nowadays.
“It would be an honour for us if you can open the seminar,” Dr Pitchay told Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during a courtesy visit at his office in Komtar on Dec 13.
He said the seminar would be useful to its leaders to increase social interaction among the community.
Also present were Gappin Penang deputy president A. Chandran and treasurer A. Athimulam.
The seminar is scheduled to be held next year.
Dr Pitchay said the association’s vision was to affiliate all Penang registered Indian non-governmental organisations under Gappin Penang.
“We want to promote unity among Indian NGOs to benefit the Indian community,” he said.
The delegates thanked Chow at the end of the meeting and hoped to receive continuous support from the state.
