AN autistic young man and his family from Nibong Tebal are set to have one of their most memorable Hari Raya celebrations this year after he was named the winner of the 109th Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Premium Savings Certificate (SSP) millionaire draw for February.
Amirul Hakim Hamdan, 29, was accompanied by his parents, Hamdan Abdul Hamid, 69, and Yuhani Abd Rahman, 71, to receive the RM1 million mock cheque from Penang BSN director Amir Hamzah at The Light Hotel in Butterworth yesterday.
Hamdan shared that he and his wife opened an account for Amirul at BSN when he was 12 and began saving for his future.
“We never imagined this would result in such a substantial reward. We didn’t deposit a fixed amount each month. Any money he received, whether from his siblings or others, was saved in his account as a form of financial security for his future.
“Amirul may not fully grasp the significance of this windfall. We will keep the winnings in his account to let it grow through dividends. We will only use the funds in unforeseen circumstances,” Hamdan said.
BSN SSP, a Shariah-compliant savings product, offers customers the opportunity to win exciting prizes each month while growing their savings.
Among the prizes are holiday and jewellery vouchers, cash rewards, and a range of vehicles, including a BMW 5 Series, BMW iX2, Mercedes EQA, Proton X50, and Perodua Myvi.
