EIGHT students from the Padang Kota constituency were on cloud nine today after receiving awards from Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow for their academic excellence.
Known as the Padang Kota Excellent Student Award 2021, it was open to the children of registered voters in Padang Kota. Chow is also the Padang Kota state assemblyman.
In his speech, Chow congratulated the eight recipients and urged them to study hard.
“This initiative is held for the second year, which is the state government’s recognition for the excellent students in Padang Kota.
“We have received a total of 16 applications for 2021 and eight of them have been selected to receive the respective incentives,” he said before presenting the awards to the students at his service centre in Jalan Arratoon.
Chow praised the students’ parents for raising them well and cultivating good values in them.
The eight recipients were Muhammad Mu’az Mohammed Ibrahim, Nurfarisyah Umairah Zulkifli, Nur Syifaa Nasruddin, Nur Batrisya Humaira Nurul Aslam, Nur Liyana Mohd Jalil, Ong Kellene, Yeap Lyn Huey and Yeap Xin Huey.
Also present was Lau Keng Ee, who is Chow’s special affairs officer in Padang Kota.
The awards are categorised based on the following :
Category I – Standard One to Standard Six (Receive a medal and a certificate)
Category II – Form One to Form Four (Receive a medal and a certificate)
Category III – Form Five (Receive a medal, a certificate and RM300 cash)
