A TOTAL of 2,030 constituents from the B40 families in Air Putih and Air Itam constituencies will benefit from a motorcycle maintenance programme organised by both state assemblymen.
Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng announced that motorcycles below 125cc can be serviced for free after registration is done through their offices.
“This programme, which runs until Aug 31, aims to ease the burden for some of the B40 families.
“It includes services such as changing the engine oil and spark plug. Our offices will contact those who are eligible for such benefit.
“The total allocation spent for this programme alone is RM62,960, which aims to assist the low-income families,” said Ng at a motorcycle shop in Air Putih today.
Ten motorcycle repair shops are taking part in this initiative, namely Boky Motor, New Seng Leong Motor, Golden Motor, Hanif Motor, Wen Her Motor, Phong Motor, Kee Seng Motor, Taycon Motor, Dragon Motor and Lui Motorcycle Service Centre.
Air Putih assemblyman Lim Guan Eng, who was present, lauded the initiative.
“We hope this programme can reduce the burden of the people nowadays,” he said.
In addition to the motorcycle maintenance programme, Lim also provided RM25,000 financial aid to various organisations.
A total of RM10,000 was handed to Pertubuhan Penganut Dewa Tiong Tuah Guan Say; RM7,500 given to Kampung Baru mosque while the remaining RM7,500 was allocated to Bukit Bendera Residents’ association.
